The Woman in the Room

The darkest horrors lurk behind a hospital door, in your body, in your mind. . .

“The Woman in the Room,” first published in Stephen King’s stellar short story collection, Nightshift, follows Johnny as he grapples with his mother’s painful, incurable cancer and the decision to release her from her mortal coil.

Director Danny Donnelly and writer Aimee Theresa skillfully adapted the story into a short film dripping with dread and turmoil. Taking keen artistic license, they dove deeper into Johnny’s loneliness and alcoholism, the thankless role of being a caregiver, and included a jaw-dropping ending.

“This was not an easy task, especially when you are adapting a story written by someone like Stephen King and Aimee crushed it.”— Nicholas T. Peetros, Producer

Add standout performances by Susan Moses, Eric Crist, and Brian A. Wilson, and you have a short film destined to make an impression.

Already, The Woman in the Room has been nominated for prestigious awards. Most notably, Danny earned a nomination for Best Director — Short Film at this year’s FirstGlance Film Festival and was awarded Best Cinematography at New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival.

Producer Nicolas T. Peetros is thrilled with the result. A fierce advocate for independent films, Peetros is a hands-on producer but believes in hiring the best people for the job and letting them shine.

“I put a lot of trust in my team, which is why it’s so important to pick the right players.”— Nicolas T. Peetros

The Woman in the Room honors King’s story with weighty imagery and palpable anguish. It’s an unforgettable film, unsettling viewers with Johnny’s brutal question: Is it murder or mercy?
